Garden Route Activities

The Diaz Express provides a rail experience run on the existing Transnet rail network in the Garden Route region of South Africa, between the scenic seasideresorts of Great Brak River on the one side and Mossel Bay on the other side.  All excursions has lovely views over the Indian Ocean (with a ring side seat for whale watching during the season), river estuaries and the indigenous plant life of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

Boat Trips - Take a boat trip to Seal Island or do some whale and dolphin watching. 


Hiking Trails - What makes Mossel Bay so unique is that all five vegetation types of the Cape Floral Kingdom are present. Beautiful areas of Lowland Fynbos, with patches of Limestone Fynbos can be viewed. Especially unique for a coastal town is the Succulent Karoo element. The Afromotane Forests are found towards the mountains on the outskirts of town.


Historical Sites - Explore Mossel Bay on foot and experience the rich heritage of this magnificent town. The Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex in the centre of town consists of various museum and sites of interest such as the Granary, the Shell Museum and Aquarium, the Maritime Museum, the Culture Museum, the Spring, the Indigenous Garden, the Padrao - and without doubt the most well known historical feature within this Complex - the Old Post Office Tree.

  Garden Route Casino - The Casino is located on the beautiful Pinnacle Point, which opened in December 2002 and has gained tremendous popularity due to friendly attendants, excellent gaming facilities and enjoyable environment.





Shark Cage Diving - We are sure that after a day at sea with us you will find that old attitudes are reversed and you will leave us with 90% respect and 10% fear and perhaps understand that the sea is the domain of the GREAT WHITE and we have no right to harm this magnificent predator.




Bungee Jumping - The 65-meter high Gourits Bridge, the Original African Bungy Site, offers Bungy Jumping and Bridge Swinging: there is something for everyone to enjoy.



Safe swimming beaches and horse riding on the beach.


Game Drives - Botlierskop Pivate Game Reserve is situated on a 3000ha game farm and comprises of over 26 different species of animals and a wide variety of birds. Wildlife at the reserve includes the rare black Impala, Rhino,Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Giraffe, Mountain Zebra and Eland.




Cango Caves - The Cango Caves is one of the worlds great natural wonders, sculptured by nature through the ages - fascinating limestone formations in a wide variety of colours. An underground wonderworld.



Cango Ostrich Farm - The Farm is located in the lush Cango Valley, 14 km outside of Oudtshoorn. The farm environment is visitor & disabled friendly and easily accessible.
